Summary: The role of the Mechanical Engineering Section Supervisor is to supervise approximately 10 Mechanical and Materials Engineers and manages a budget of approximately $1M. This includes working with operations, maintenance, and other technical staff on prioritization and staffing. The Mechanical Engineering Section Supervisor oversees the development of risk based inspection and maintenance activities for fixed equipment. The position is located in Chalmette, Louisiana and is part of the Technical Services Department.
Primary Job Functions:
o Coordinate Refinery Mechanical and Materials Engineering work activities
o Formulate near term tactical resource plans for supporting refinery operations and capital investments
o Promote safety awareness, maintain involvement in safety activities, steward appropriate safety measures, facilitate continuous improvement, ensure accountability for safety issues, and model safe behavior
o Serve as the technical lead for unit downtimes, including turnarounds
o Responsible for the technical quality of technical work products
o Provide coaching / mentoring to less experienced engineers
o Assure that correct processes are being followed through the use of random audits of the operations organizations, safety observations, job procedures audits

Job Requirements: o B.S. or higher Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related field
o Demonstrated work experience as an Engineering Supervisor in Refining or Petrochemical Manufacturing
o Demonstrated work experience in one of the following areas:Contact Engineering, Design Engineering, Project Engineering or the Engineering Specialist discipline
o Demonstrated strong Technical background with operations or maintenance support o Demonstrated commitment to high ethical standards
o Commitment to and clear understanding of the importance of audits of operations, continuous improvement activities and investigation and reporting responsibilities within the organizational structure
o Demonstrated ability to delegate, follow-up on events and manage a wide range of activities
o Demonstrated ability to make risk management decisions by aligning project design with business needs and license to operate requirements
o Working knowledge of hazards and safety systems
o Ability to manage during a crisis situation and make decisions during an emergency
o Demonstrated ability to use measured risk approach and risk- value analysis methods in business decisions
o Sets high standards for safety, integrity, and operational excellence
o Drives highly productive and mutually beneficial relationships with business partners, suppliers & peers Preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
o Effective analytical and communication skills
o Good understanding of refinery operations including support functions
o Proven ability to understand the impact of their decisions on other areas of the refinery
o Working knowledge of ASME BPV Section VIII, ASME B31.3, API 579, API 653
o Working knowledge of API risk based inspection programs

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
